Get your next dictation working.

Alpha support is direct. Email [email protected] with the steps that failed and which app you were using. Remove private dictated text and client details first.

First-run setup

  1. Allow microphone access when you choose the setup action.
  2. Enable Accessibility for Murmur in System Settings to use global push-to-talk and pasting.
  3. Return to Murmur and retry after changing a permission.
  4. Confirm a model download. Choose a multilingual model such as Base for Dutch or Auto-detect.
  5. Try a short sentence in a simple text field, then test your daily writing app.

The first dictation feels slower

Loading a model and preparing local inference can take longer on the first use. Performance varies by Mac, model size, and recording length. Report repeatable delays with the model and approximate recording duration.

Dutch comes out in English

Choose Auto-detect or Dutch in Settings and select a model without “English” or “.en” in its name. Murmur's current transcription path preserves the source language. Report a failure with a short, non-sensitive test sentence.

Text did not paste

Keep the original app and text field focused until transcription finishes. Murmur deliberately withholds auto-paste if the destination changes. Some apps and secure fields restrict Accessibility. You can copy the transcript manually from Murmur.

A model download failed

Check your connection and retry from the setup panel or Settings. You can cancel an in-progress download or use Repair to download and verify the model again. Dictation needs a verified local model.

Send a useful report

Choose Copy Setup Report in the setup panel or Copy Local Diagnostics in Settings > Support. The report includes setup metadata and excludes audio and transcripts.

Settings > Support also offers Copy Support Template. Add what you expected, what happened, steps to reproduce, and the destination app. Send only non-sensitive examples.

Updates

Choose Check for Updates in the app. Checks are manual. The feed will offer releases only after a verified, signed build has been published; it is currently empty.
